California Dreamin' Again...

Mr. Sweetie-Pie and I just celebrated 13 years together....

We went to California; two of our children now live there, one at UC Berkeley and one at UC Davis.  We have smart children!!!  We're blessed.

We flew into San Francisco, spent the first night in Half-Moon Bay, and then drove up the coast to Mendocino, CA, one of my most favorite places on earth....we sang in the car, we held hands, we looked at the incredible rocky coastline and were given the gift of sunshine in a place that is often blanketed with fog.

We had a fantastic dinner; it happened to be Valentine's Day in Mendocino.... one gal in there was dressed in red from head to to.  It's my favorite color, but it was a little much.  I chuckled on the inside because it was so gosh darn cute.

After the one night in Mendocino, we drove into the darling town, got coffee, and strolled to the rocky cliffs....It was breathtaking.

We could hear the waves crashing....tide was low and a cave could be seen in this area.... this part of the coast is known for shipwrecks....lots of rocks far out; there are many lighthouses along the coast and several you can even stay in if you're lucky enough to be able to book a room.  I HIGHLY recommend a visit to this part of the world.  Tall redwood trees, wineries, organic fruits and vegetable stands....it's stunning; it really is.

That's Mendocino in the background; I'm happy....

Not too many people on the beaches....a great time to just observe and contemplate

And watch the sun on the water...

And look for whales because this IS the season for them

And be together....away from it all.

We drove to Berkeley, had dinner with son and his girlfriend at Gather in town, then drove on to youngest daughter and her husband's home near Davis.....

across bridges

and through traffic

And then my camera broke....really, it did.  So, the next post will be with my NEW CAMERA...I'm still in 'test it out and see if I really like it,'  but I had to get a new one.  To repair the old was going to cost more than I paid for it.

Hope you enjoyed the little get-a-way..............

But, as soon as we got home from this trip, we were home for a couple of days and then on to see my Mom for her birthday.............

so help me unpack, do laundry, and pack up again..........'cause here we go!

Where's a Susan Branch train when I need one?  xoxo

  1. Gosh I need to see more of CA than the local mall. You inspire me! SO glad you had such a fun trip--you've seen more of the place where I live than I have. Looks like a beautiful vacation! ♥

  2. Oh you look so beautiful standing by the water! What a great little adventure! I have always wanted to go to that area of California. I want to see the coast, go to some wineries, see Mendocino and definitely Carmel by the Sea with all those little fairy tale cottages.

13 years, how wonderful! Here's to another 13 years and many many more!
