Oqunquit: A trip to Perkins Cove

First I want to apologize in the delay in this post--I ran out of picture space and it took Google quite some time to give me more, even though I paid for it.  I want to preface this segment with I HAD A BIG TOOTHACHE while I was here so a restaurant review isn't fair.  I couldn't really eat much but I was really hungry.  Yes, we passed the Maine Diner and saw the line---WOW, the food network really helped that place!  My goodness....it was crazy.  But a 'little birdie' told me it's delicious and that it's an annual stop for her and her husband, so I trust that we really missed out on that one!

I had lobster stew and lobster stew- both were fantastic and I wish I had more.  It was rich, hot, yummy, and easy to just swallow- 'nuf said.

But, I do want to give credit to two outstanding places in this area:
1.  a little stand by the footbridge - AND EXCELLENT ICE CREAM, too!  ( yes, I had some )
2.  MC restaurant - more on that later

When you're on the footbridge, this is some of the view

the little harbor of Perkins Cove

The lobster roll and chips- I was told it was very very good!

Lobster Stew: trust me, it was incredibly good

The Footbridge Lobster- so awesome!!

An Ogunquit site....flags AND Fall!

Loved all the Fall decorations around Ogunquit

MC @ Perkins Cove
Click on the caption link to read more about this lovely restaurant.  It has received numerous food awards and the two owners of the original restaurant then opened this one- a bit less expensive but still incredibly good food.  This is a must go---very eclectic menu that changes.

Gotta love the punkins and mums

Need some things that say Ogunquit?

One of the lovely inns around town- love it!

Lots of marshy areas in this neck of the woods

lovely old hotel near water's edge

people were just sitting gazing at the water

a few still walked the beaches

As the sun was setting, we drove away....but want to come back!

It was an awesome day in spite of the pain--on the way back to the inn, we talked and decided that Ogunquit was worth another visit........so until then

We didn't stay here....but you've just gotta love this name, huh?

Accepting What IS joyfully

These pretty much froze up last night....but they were awesome all summer long!
I'm out of room for pictures right now, so this blog entry will have nothing to do with my New England trip.  But, I have recognized that many of the people in my life are going through things right now that are sometimes difficult to accept.  I have subscribed to a daily OM where I get inspirational messages sent to me.  Sometimes I think to myself that someone is peeking in my windows and that they KNOW I needed to hear that! This is one of them.....I need to understand that I am what I am and what is IS.  I can't make a b&b drop out of the sky and I can't make someone buy our home right now---I need to be open to other ideas and move in some direction that I love, even if it isn't a b&b- I do LOVE other things! On a really positive note, my box arrived from the Beach House on Martha's Vineyard - and I'm so excited!!  When I can post pics, I'll let you know what I bought!!

Anyway, here's the post---I didn't write the following- it's from daily OM and you can subscribe, too!
Love you all!!

Life As It Is
Making Life Work for You
At the end of the day, we must come to terms with changing what we can and accepting what we cannot change.

Sometimes we have so many varying responsibilities in our lives, ranging from work obligations to caring for children to running a household, we feel we cannot possibly make it all work. We may feel overwhelmed in the face of it all, ending each day feeling hopelessly behind schedule. However, regardless of how frustrating this can be, these are the parameters that make up our lives, and we owe it to ourselves to find a way to make it work. Rather than buckling under the pressure of an impossible to-do list, we might take a moment to view the larger perspective.

Like the president of a large organization, we must first realize that we cannot do every job ourselves. The first step to sanity is learning how to delegate some of the responsibility to other people, whether by paying someone to clean our house or trading childcare duties with another parent. In addition, we might find places where we can shift our expectations in ways that make our lives easier. For example, expecting ourselves to create a healthy home-cooked meal every night after a full day of work, errands, or caring for an infant or toddler may be a bit excessive. We might allow ourselves to order in food once in a while without any guilt. Accepting the adjustments needed to make our lives work is an essential ingredient to being at peace with our situation.

At the end of the day, we must come to terms with changing what we can and accepting what we cannot change. Sometimes the laundry piles up, a sick child demands more of our attention than usual, and we temporarily get behind with our schedule. Accepting this momentary state of affairs and trusting in our ability to get back on track when the time is right, we gracefully accept our life as it is, letting go of perfectionism and embracing life as it stands.

People with a sense of Humor

When we visited Martha's Vineyard, we walked through the neighborhoods of Edgartown, where stately white homes with white picket fences prevail.  So many people snapped photographs of the homes....and I had to laugh out loud when I came across this home- the owners had placed these two stuffed animals at the open front door---knowing that there home is photographed so frequently, they, at least, had a sense of humor about it!
Good for them! It still makes me smile!
