A rejected offer and a treacherous drive home....

On Monday, we got up early, had a quick breakfast, and headed to Estes Park....the skies to the WEST were getting quite a bit darker and cloudier....
As we headed up the canyon, only slight remnants of the last snow remained....
The big horn sheep were out having a little breakfast, too
The pine trees were FULL of gorgeous cones
And we stopped at a couple of rustic shops to browse a bit
We made an offer on a home.....however, I already know that they countered with an offer not even close to anything reasonable....well, reasonable to us, as we've done our homework and know the work that has to be done to this house.....NO, it's not a log house that we truly want....
The elk were out and about too....but the skies were getting darker and it started to snow...
We decided we had better start the drive home as the curves of the journey home can be treacherous
 The wind picked up....sideways snow....
The roads soon became slippery white...
The rock ledges that line the highway were frosted with a heavy splash of powdered sugar
and the canyon became quite dark
We were traveling very slowly......and truly looking forward to coming home...
We lit the fireplace, fixed dinner..............and were thankful to be safely home, even if we didn't find a home of our own......we're not feeling very welcome in Estes Park....nothing seems to be opening itself up to us....for now, I've had enough looking up there for awhile......I think I'll clean out a closet or two, do some journaling.....and rethink all of this.  I actually feel very content.....

I'll keep you posted....thank you for coming along on my journey.....  xoxo

  1. Hi sweetie,

I'm sorry that the counter offer was unreasonable for you. It just means this wasn't the right place for you. You'll have to keep searching for the ONE. I'm glad you got home safely. I don't like driving in that kind of weather and always feel blessed to arrive home safe & sound. By the way, I heard on the radio, that last night's big snowfall was blamed on a "system" coming from Colorado. I thought of you immediately and figured we must be sharing the same weather! Love you, Joann. Thanks for taking us along on your journey. xoxo

  2. Oh how I enjoyed all your pictures of your adventure to Estes Park Looked pretty scary after it started to snow, beautiful but scary.
Sorry about the offer, something else must be out there for you. Always good to head your boat downstream and go with the flow. I just love seeing all the wildlife around CO. Keeping best thoughts for you and Rod. xoxo

  3. I sold real estate for years. While I found some perfect houses for happy families in January (my first sale was when everyone told me to stay home--
Super Bowl Sunday!), usually the market doesn't open up until March/April. People who don't have to move on a quick calendar, instead plan to get through the holidays, then start the to-do list. I know it doesn't make u feel one bit better, but one day--there the perfect house will be, with your name on it. Maybe it's not what u think it is. It obviously isn't WHEN you hoped. But it will be there. My grandma would say, "Keep paddling." xo

  4. Gosh so much snow, it is incredible! In England we have a few inches of snow and the entire country shuts down and all hell breaks loose!
It is a shame your offer was not accepted, but it is probably a blessing in disguise. So onwards and upwards, your perfect home is out there.
    Love Morwenna xoxo
