I've been wanting to do a little
'give-a-way' for sometime.....so in honor of Valentine's Day, here goes!
Here's what you have to do:
1. Leave a comment about the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for you on Valentine's Day
2. Follow my blog
3. Leave a tweet about the contest....telling others about it.
I will randomly choose a winner...please leave a way to contact you. The drawing will be on Friday, Feb. 11, 2011 (in the evening) ! I won't tell you what it is.....but it's something from Cath Kidston and it was purchased from these shelves featured in the photograph. OK, are you ready?
Go!
Hi Joann! What a lovely idea...I've tweeted already and you KNOW that I follow you...so, the last part thesweetest thing anyone's ever done for me on Valentines day was when I was about 5. A little boy called Ian Farthing had a crush on me, and said he'd do anything for me for Valentines. I was in that scathing mood that only young girls can be.."ok then. Fill your ears with sand!" So the little thing waded into the sandpit and did just that. BOy was I in trouble with EVERYONE for that, rightly so. He showed me not to trifle with people's affections and to always try and be kind. Oh, and my first love (also called Paul) hand wrote me a poem for Valentines when I was 18. I can't believe it, but I've lost it after all these years. I can remember a fragment - " I wonder, do you dream of me, your cheek upon your fingertips? Oh, that i could leap forward now behind your back and with my lips break through the waves upon your nape, that hover close and lightly there...to see if they are real or mere figments of your lovely hair...' Isn't that sweet? Wish I could find it! Anyway, great giveaway Joann, I'm visiting Cath Kidston this afternoon funnily enough (shop not lady!!) Love to you this dark & gloomy Monday - it's brighter already! xoxo
ReplyDeleteAhh gee I think I subscribed. Not an expert with bloggy stuff. I would say my most memorable Valentine's present came from my daughter. She was totally broke so had to be creative and went to the 99 cents store and found a present. I unwrapped this cheesy heart shaped pink and white ceramic vase with a bouquet and the word MOM raised on it. I LOVED it. It's sitting right here on my desk now as my pencil holder. I see it all the while I'm typing. It brings back memories of long ago when people were sentimental and collected cheesy things. Guess we still are today!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day to Moms everywhere, lovers young and old, and chocolate addicts of all persuasions.
So far gals...I'm just loving this!! Your stories are funny, sweet, and romantic....can't wait for the week of love!!
ReplyDeleteBy far the most romantic thing I can remember was when my husband & I were high school sweethearts, he told me to dress up real fancy because he was taking me somewhere real nice, but it was a surprise. It was so exciting. I went out to buy something new to wear. In the evening, he picked me up and we took the city train to the downtown area. I was so curious, but loving every minute of not knowing. We then walked into a beautiful hotel on King St. We opened the door to our room, and there on the bed were a dozen red roses and along side of that, were 2 tickets to front row seats to watch Beauty & the Beast musical, which I had been wanting to see for so long! We had just enough time to peek in the room and then off we went to the performance. Until today, I have to say it was one of my favorite musicals. When show was over, we walked back to the hotel, it was SO cold, and ordered room service for dinner. This was by far the most romantic thing I can remember. We were so young at the time and he planned & payed for all of it, and managed to keep it all hidden from me. xxoo
ReplyDeleteI just formally subscribed to your lovely blog. I come to visit often but now Iam an official follower.Valentine's Day Hmmm... I think the sweetest one was the very first Valentine from my lst child, Scott. He made it in Kindergarten. It was two little outlines of his hands made out of red construction paper and joined at the thumbs like a book. Inside was a sweet note " You are the best Mom in the World, I love you." He was so excited to give it to me and very pleased with himself. Fun remembering those times so long ago.
ReplyDeleteOh, Joann! What a deliously sweet thing to do! I love it!! My sweet thing is so simple but so thoughtful...so giving of self. I had complained to my hubby that I hated to come to bed because the room was soooo cold. One night as I delayed in the warm livingroom, he preceeded me to the bedroom. Finally, I hastily got into bed and it was warm and toasty!! He had laid on my side to warm it up for me! So caring and so sweet and so simple! It warmed me into my heart!! I love him so and am so blessed that I can share my live with him. xx
ReplyDeleteI love my memories of exchanging Valentines in grade school. Those sweet, simple cards we all gave each other, the cutting and pasting and making Valentines for our moms (I don't think we ever made them for our dads, poor guys!). I still love making Valentines :)

ReplyDeleteI believe the most romantic thing I can recall is when my husband actually grilled steaks on the patio for Valentine's Day. It was right in the middle of an unexpected February snowstorm, schools had been dismissed early because of it, and one of our daughters had come home ill (flu). I had thought I would do the grilling for HIM, but he wouldn't let me.:)
ReplyDeleteI have also just subscribed (I think).:)
ReplyDeleteJennifer Michie also posted a comment, which for some reason did not post and also emailed me, tweeted about it, etc. Her blog is JennieWren....
