The Inn at Jackson Jackson, New Hampshire

When we arrived in Jackson, NH, we immediately went to our inn.  We got checked in and found the inn to be warm and cozy- two nights here sounded splendid.  It was cooler up in the mountains and the air was brisk.  The leaves were bright and the town has a 'tradition' of sorts that we were not familiar with until this day.  Pumpkin people!!  Everyone around Jackson, but especially the inns, restaurants, and shops, have 'scenes' in their front yards made from pumpkins that are the 'heads' of people. We saw a grandma pumpkin reading to her 3 little grandchildren pumpkins, etc.  The Inn at Jackson was no exception.  They featured Dorothy and her trio of companions of the Wizard of Oz.  She even wore the red ruby slippers!  (see prior blog for a picture of this! )

The Inn is currently for sale, so if you're interested, click HERE.  The owners actually own another inn as well and they've hired an outstanding innkeeper to run The Inn at Jackson....we had a wonderful two days there!

the lovely fireplace was warm and cozy to enjoy our breakfast near

I love the fact that the dining room has tables for two or larger groups

One of the windows in the breakfast room looks over the village and woods

Linens were crisp!
We had two incredible meals during our stay in Jackson, NH.  One was at Thompson House Eatery.  I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant.  It was so delicious.  Reservations are absolutely required, however, so don't expect to walk in without one ( like we did the first night ).  The other delicious restaurant choice was The White Cider Company restaurant.  Again, reservations needed.

You can help yourself to coffee or tea and cereals and a made to order breakfast

every morning, the choices for breakfast were on this chalkboard

Of course, I LOVED the charming china- little flowers....how special!

the front yard of the inn, which sits on a bluff overlooking Jackson, NH- if you look down by the sign by the road, you can see their Halloween/Fall display of 'pumpkin people' which is a tradition in Jackson, NH For 2010, their pumpkin people display was The Wizard of OZ- it was really, really good! the area around Jackson, NH was breathtaking!
The inn was so cozy, that it was difficult to pull ourselves away from the breakfast table around the fire, but we had a train to catch....so stay tuned for our trip into Conway, NH and the train trip I wanted to go on for a LONG time!
